As the people around the world become inclined to modern technology, manufacturers also become more innovative year after year. In fact, most of us already have bidet toilet seats installed in our home bathrooms or toilets.

However, there may come a point wherein we need to replace them. Thus, this article aims to help you learn how to remove a bidet toilet seat without the need of contacting a plumber.

Before we proceed to the step-by-step procedure on how to remove a bidet toilet seat, let us first look into the parts of a bidet toilet seat that need to be detached from your toilet bowl.

Detachable Parts of a Bidet Toilet Seat Attachment:

Electronic Bidet Toilet Seat Attachment

The good thing about an electronic bidet toilet seat is that when you purchase it, the lid and the spray nozzle, as well as the dryer vents, are already attached to it.

Most of the time, the control knobs or dials are also already attached to the toilet seat. However, there are brands wherein they are mainly controlled by a remote control.

In addition, a bidet toilet seat is also equipped with a quick release button for easier detachment from your toilet bowl.

Non-Electric or Manual Bidet Toilet Seat Attachment

If you have a non-electric toilet seat attachment, the product does not come with a toilet seat and lid. The control knobs and the spray nozzle are just attached together to an extension that is used to connect them to the toilet bowl. With this type of bidet toilet seat attachment, the original toilet seat and lid of your toilet bowl will still be used.

Bolts and Nuts

Bolts and nuts are small accessories that are used to fasten or tighten your toilet seat to the toilet bowl. They are important in order to make sure that your toilet seat will not be moving around while you seat on them.

For manual bidet toilet seat attachments, these are the ones used to secure the nozzle and control knobs in place, as well as to secure the toilet seat and cover when you place it back.

Deodorizer or Filter Cartridge

Most electronic bidet toilet seats that you can find in the market have deodorizers or filter cartridges that need to be attached to the left or right side of bidet toilet seat.

T-valve Adapter and Pipes

Although the T-valve adapter and the water supply pipes are removable parts, you may no longer need to replace them if your purpose is just to replace the toilet seat attachment. That is because these parts are just used to supply the water tank and spray nozzle with water.

Tools Needed to Remove a Bidet Toilet Seat Attachment

Apart from knowing the different parts of a bidet toilet seat attachment, it is also essential for you to learn about the various tools that you will need. Through such, you can fully understand the process of how to remove a bidet toilet seat attachment.

Wrench

A wrench is a mechanical tool that is used to help tighten and loosen fastening objects. With its help, you can quickly rotate the bolts and nuts that are holding your bidet toilet seat attachments.

Flathead Screwdriver

A flathead screwdriver is usually used to tighten or mount a screw or bolt on a particular object. However, when it comes to removing bidet toilet seat attachments, it can be used to hold the screw in place while you are loosening it. Through that, you can easily loosen the screws or bolts.

As can be denoted from above, the tools are just needed to assist you in removing the bolts and nuts. However, there are people who no longer need to use such tools. But for the benefit of everyone who will be using this how to remove a bidet toilet seat attachment-guide, we will include the tools in the procedures.

How to Remove a Bidet Toilet Seat Attachment:

As mentioned above, there are differences between manual and electronic bidet toilet seat attachments. Thus, this guide will discuss the procedure for each type.

Procedure for Removing a Manual Bidet Toilet Seat Attachment

Step 1

Turn off the water supply.

Step 2

At the farthest back of your toilet bowl, located in front of the water tank, there are two pairs of bolts and nuts hiding underneath.

They usually have covers to protect people from being scratched if they accidentally touch them. Thus, when you are locating them, you might be able to see the cover instead of the bolt itself.

If they are covered, look for the hinges and start prying the opposite of the hinges until you hear a snap.

That then signals that the covers are already open and the bolts and nuts are already exposed. If you are having trouble releasing the cover, use the flathead screwdriver instead of your hands.

Step 3

With the help of the screwdriver, hold the head of the bolt down to provide support. After which, place the wrench on the nut and start turning it in a clockwise direction.

You may do this without the wrench as well. With the assistance of the screwdriver, turn the bolt in a counterclockwise direction.

Step 4

Once the two pairs of bolts and nuts are removed, carefully lift the toilet seat and lid away from the toilet bowl.

Procedure for Removing an Electric Bidet Toilet Seat Attachment:

Step 1

The very first thing that you need to do when you are planning to remove your electric bidet toilet seat attachment is to unplug the product.

Step 2

Turn off the water supply.

Step 3

If the brand that you have has a small water reservoir, you should remove the water in it with the help of the drain button.

Step 4

In case the brand that you have has a deodorizer, pull out the deodorant case and its cover so that it won’t fall off once you remove the electric bidet toilet seat.

Step 5

The next thing that you need to do is to remove the screws that are keeping the toilet seat attachment in place.

With this, kindly follow steps two and three that are given in the manual bidet toilet seat attachment removal-procedure.

Step 6

Look for the release button, which is usually found on the side of the electric bidet toilet seat, and push it. Once you are successful, you will be able to hear a click sound.

After which, slowly slide the toilet seat attachment towards the front of the bowl. Make sure not to turn the product upside down after it is released.

Final Words

The process on how to remove a bidet toilet seat attachment does not require you to hire a plumber or a contractor.

In fact, you can do the process without the need of special or modern tools. Nevertheless, you must take precaution when removing your bidet toilet seat attachments so as not to cause any accidents, as well as not to break the product.

  7. Toilets have always been the most complicated things to me, not to mention a biget toilet. Before I read this, if there is a problem with the piping system, my first reaction would be to either directly contact the landlord or the plumber. It seems like this is an easier job than I thought. I really thought I need some complicated machine that requires some kind of thick power cord. I can’t believe that it is as easy as using your a flat head screw driver and a wrench.
